My perspective as a conservative Republican comes from being
a military brat, later a member of the United States Air
Force myself, an independent contractor, an aspiring
accounting student, a soon to be soon to be husband and
eventual father and a Christian.
As a soldier, and son of a soldier, I saw first hand the importance
of having a strong military, and saw that strength developed by such
great leaders as Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. I also
realized that the only way to protect this country is to deal firmly
and certainly with our enemies.
As an independent contractor and aspiring businessman, I know the
burdens that businesses have to face every day because of high taxes
and overbearing regulation, by government at all levels, seeking to
ride on our backs, and not at our side. It is a personal
mission of mine to get people elected who understand that it is NOT
the government's money, but the people's money.
As an eventual husband and father, I want my children to grow up in
a country where they have the same opportunities for success as we
enjoy. That means a stronger check on spending and taxing, and
better educational choices for everyone; NOT having an education
system micro-managed by an overbearing bureaucracy and teachers'
unions, that seek only to enrich their own coffers and advance their
own power.
As a Christian, I believe the freedoms we enjoy as Americans come
from God, and NOT granted to us on the whim of government that's
feeling Quote/Unquote "benevolent". I also believe that we
must get back to the moral principles that have guided and blessed
this country for so long; not by using legislative or judicial
heavy-handedness, but by being examples of conservative living and
governess, and the benefits that it provides. I also believe
that we must encourage the open display of faith, rather than trying
to censor it; for in so doing, we risk what President Reagan rightly
described as going from being one nation under God to a nation gone
under.
As an activist I believe that advancing conservative principles does
not begin and end on the campaign trail. It is indeed a
year-round battle, and that battle must be fought in the house and
halls of town councils, all the way up to the halls of Congress.
While it does involve getting Republicans elected, the conservative
activist's job is to keep pressure on elected leaders of both
parties to do the right thing; and "call out" those who choose to do
otherwise.
That is my perspective on being a conservative Republican. Thank you
for listening, and God bless you.
